Those readers interested in airships will find the following itinerary of the Goodyear’s “Europa”, as submitted to us by the Goodyear Tyre & Rubber Co. Ltd., worth noting— along with weather reports on the days involved:

The Goodyear airship “Europa”, built at Cardington, is returning to the United Kingdom for a month during the summer. She will land at Ashford Airport, in Kent, after crossing the Channel on Tuesday, 19th June, and will leave to return to France from the same airport four weeks later, on Tuesday, 17th July. The day after her arrival holiday-makers along the south coast will get their first view of the airship as she flies from Ashford along the coast as far as Bournemouth. On Friday, 22nd June, “Europa” will leave Ashford for Leavesden in Hertfordshire where she will be based for the next week, taking part in the Leavesden Air Show on Saturday, 30th June. The following day “Europa” will fly north across the Midlands and will be seen over Derby, Nottingham and Chesterfield before she turns south again to land at the East Midlands Airport, Castle Donington.

On Monday, 2nd July, the airship will head northwest, flying over Manchester, Liverpool and Southport en route for Blackpool where she will be based for two days. On Wednesday, 4th July, “Europa” will fly south for the West Midlands, passing over Wolverhampton, the home of Goodyear Great Britain, before landing at RAF Cosford, near Wolverhampton. She will remain at Cosford for four days and on Saturday, 7th July. the entire day will be reserved for Goodyear employees at the company’s Wolverhampton headquarters.

The following day “Europa” will leave Cosford to appear at Newbury Air Tattoo in Berkshire, being based for three days at RAF Greenharn Common. On Wednesday, 11th July, the airship, flies north-east to Cranfield in Bedfordshire, only a few miles from her birthplace at Cardirigton, where the BBC television cameras will be installed ready for the filming of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday, 14th July. The next day “Europa” will fly to Ashford Airport to make ready for her cross-Channel flight to France on Tuesday, 17th July.
