In addition to Silver Ghost Day, and celebrations of its own 30th anniversary, the Rolls-Royce EC is going to West Wittering on June 17 for a rally outside the former design studio of Sir Henry Royce. A plaque is to be unveiled here, with an address by a parish councillor, and the cars will depart at 11.45arn in a cavalcade to County Hall, Chichester, to be reviewed by the leader of West Sussex County Council. It is hoped that the cavalcade will include pre-1914 Ghosts and every pre-1939 R-R and Bentley model. A special tribute is to be paid to the late Ivan Evernden, who was Sir Henry’s staunch “right-hand man” from 1919 to 1933.

The Bulletin of the Riley Register has been telling the story of the Cuthbert Special which ran at Brooklands. This year’s Coventry Weekend is on June 20-21.

The enthusiastic Riley RM Club has its National Rally at Littlecote House, Hungerford, on 7-9 August.

From April to September the London Toy and Model Museum is staging a display of tin-plate Minic car miniatures. WB
