Wings and Things

Sir,

The British Touring Car Championship has a problem. The recent back-to-back Grandstand scheduling of our leading national car racing championship and the British Superbike series had the unfortunate effect of making the two-litre tin-top affair look like a soapbox derby.

I know that our narrow bike cousins possess a huge advantage in the amount of spare track space available for overtaking, but it strikes me that the advent of wings in the BTCC has done very little to improve the spectacle. Remove them now Then reduce the diameter of the dinner plate-sized brake discs, and perhaps the word doorhandling will stop being a BTCC misnomer.
