The biggest-ever gathering of Group C Porsches will be one of the major features at the Silverstone Classic on July 28/29, marking the 25th anniversary of the debut race of the Porsche 956.
In May 1982, 956 chassis No1 had its first race at Silverstone, and it will be among 25 Group C Porsches from the 956/962 era which the organisers of the Gp C/GTP race series hope to have either racing or on display.
“We’d love to get 50 Group C/GTP cars there, and half of them should be Porsches,” says endurance racing enthusiast Henry Pearman.
Silverstone is one of three UK Gp C/GTP dates; other rounds are Brands Hatch (May 27/28) and Donington Park (September 15/16).
