Super Saloons back in action

The reunion of three famous Super Saloon cars of the 1970s will be a feature of the second Cholmondeley Pageant of Power over the weekend of July 18/19.

The entry for the speed event in the grounds of Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire will include classic cars ranging from a 1929 Le Mans Bentley through to a Silk Cut Jaguar XJR8.

The highlight for many, however, will be the chance to see the ex-Mick Hill VW Beetle-Chevrolet, the ex-Gerry Marshall Vauxhall Firenza ‘Baby Bertha’ and the ex-Tony Hazlewood Daf 55 all running once more. The Beetle has recently been restored to period specification and livery by Dave Taylor, and the Cholmondeley event will be one of its first public appearances.

The event will also include the venue’s annual fireworks concert, held on Saturday evening adjacent to the main paddock area.
