Group C headlines Festival

The European debut of the unique Veskanda Group C car will be one of the features of the second Donington Historic Festival (May 5/6).

The Chevrolet-powered car raced in the World Championship round at Sandown in 1988 and has now been restored for UKbased Aussie Paul Stubber to race in the Group C/GTP series this summer.

The grid for the hour-long Group C race on Sunday could include three Lancia LC2s for Rupert Clevely, Henrik Lindberg and Roger Wills, while Gareth Evans fields the Sauber Mercedes C11 of Bob Berridge.

Another highlight of the event will be Sir Stirling Moss back at the wheel of Jaguar C-type chassis 005 for some demonstration laps, 60 years after he took the car to a famous victory in the Reims Grand Prix for sports cars in June 1952. In the car entered by Tommy Wisdom and registered MDU 212, Moss scored the irst victory for a car running with disc brakes.
