Jenson Button reunited with Brawn BGP 001 at Goodwood Members’ Meeting

Ah, those halcyon, uncomplicated days of the late 2000s, when quaint old double diffusers were the Formula 1 controversy of the day… The audience at the Goodwood Members’ Meeting certainly appreciated being reminded of that era, when Jenson Button was reunited with the Brawn BGP 001, his steed for his 2009 world championship-winning season. For his first demo run, he had to sprint from the Jaguar E-type he had just driven in practice for the Protheroe Cup. Heat issues initially caused some cutting out, but eventually the Mercedes V8 engine was on full song. “It feels so natural,” he said. “I get out on track and it’s second nature because you remember. I’ve got so many memories, and it comes flooding back as soon as they start [the car]. It’s back immediately.”
