DONALD HEALEY FETED BY NEWNHAMS

nONALD HEALEY and the Triumph teams which competed with such

conspicuous success in the Monte Carlo Rally were recently entertained. at a dinner given in their honour by Newnhams—the Triumph London Distributors. The proceedings commenced with cocktails served in Newnhatris’ splendid new showrooms in Berkeley Street— where several of the Rally cars were displayed—after which the scene changed to the May Fair Hotel, just across the way.

A large wall map showed the routes followed by the seven Triumph ” Gloria” cars and after plates were cleared away Healey, in ‘response to a toast to the Triumph teams proposed by Mr, Kay Don, gave a most interesting and amusing account of his journey from Athens. He paid. a high tribute to his car, which had given him not a moment’s trouble and did not require the opening of the tool kit during the whole journey.

Col. Holbrook, the Managing Director of the Triumph concern, expressed the natural gratification of the Company in having achieved such a remarkable success in their first serious endeavour in international competitions by gaining a 100% result, since there were seven Triumph cars entered .from various points in Europe and all seven succeeded in teaching Monte Carlo within the schedule time.

Col. Holbrook concluded by expressing his appreciation to the Newnham brothers for their kindness in arranging such an enjoyable party and wished them every

success with their new West lind showrooms in which he was very glad to learn they intended the Triumph car to occupy a prominent position.
