Minor modifications by Mercedes-Benz

A number of small modifications to their passenger car range have been introduced by Daimler-Benz A.G. of Stuttgart, makers of Mercedes-Benz cars, as follows:— All 4- and 6-cylinder passenger cars will in future have a steering lock with non-repeat start device as standard equipment. The lock, which works mechanically, prevents the starter from being switched on while the engine is running. The capacity of the 300SE fuel tank has been increased from 65 to 82 litres (18.04 gallons). This increases the 300SE’s range by almost 25%. A more powerful battery with an amperage of 84Ah instead of the standard 66Ah is now available against special request and for a small additional charge for the 190D diesel engined car. It is intended for use in special cases when the standard battery may not be sufficient for such short journey driving as that done by Doctors and Taxi cab operators, or for drivers using a radio telephone set. For normal driving the standard battery is perfectly adequate.
