A matter of identity

Sir,
I wonder how many other of your readers will have been intrigued by the radiator in Volkswagen’s advertisement last month.

Could it be off a Minerva, my first guess, or possibly a Humber or Sunbeam of about 1930? This should be a real test for the experts, of which I don’t claim to be one, though in my teens in the late ‘thirties it was my pride that I could tell all the Big Six makes apart merely by the noise of the engines and exhausts—now, regrettably, my ability in this respect, apart from a few obvious ones like that car, is confined to the diesels in ‘buses and heavy lorries.
