The Austin Seven Jubilee Land's End/John O'Groats Run

Regulations are now available for this event, promoted by the Austin Seven Club’s Association as the first of a series of celebrations of the Austin 7’s Jubilee Year. Approved by the RAC, this Demonstration Run will occupy the Easter Weekend, April 1st to 4th. Pre-war cars only, naturally, but Austin 7 Specials are eligible. The Run is open to paid-up members of any Austin 7 Club, and there will be a 24-hour starting period from the Land’s End Hotel, the route to be competitors’ own, but they have to sign-on an hour before their declared starting time. They have to get to the John O’Groats Hotel by one minute to midnight on April 4th. Entries, at £1.00 per car, close on March 28th. This is clearly a competition, limited to 80 starters, with certificates as prizes, not a mass demonstration of hundreds of Sevens along a pre-determined route, which the public might have preferred. Nevertheless, we wish all the intrepid Seven-ists who try to beat a certain Reverend gentleman’s performance over this classic route the best of Longbridge luck. Unless a dozen such enthusiasts enter, the thing may be scrubbed.
