The 1927 Grand Prix Salmson which the late Vic Derrington raced at Brooklands in the 1920s and which he owned into the 1970s before selling it (chassis GP602), went to Sweden where, since 1977 it has been run by Kent Olsson when not on display in the Rydaholm Museum in South Sweden. It is reputed to have been bought at a London Motor Show where it should have remained on display, perhaps as at Olympia in 1926, as a race-winning car. The owner would like more information on this and other aspects of the car.

A new club has been formed to cater for Rootes Vehicle Owners, such as those who run Hillman and Humber cars, Commer commercials, Rootes Sunbeams, Karrier trucks, Singer Gazelles, etc. Its title is the Hillman Commer Karrier Club, and its first rally is at the Cotswold Wildlife Park, Oxon, on August 2nd, notable for having £1million insurance cover and no entry fee. Details from; A Freakes, Kingfisher Court, E Moseley, Surrey, KT8 9HL.

The Vintage Motor Cycle Club, which now has more than 11,000 members, announces that its well-established Banbury Run will be held on June 21st, and the VMCC International Assembly at Cheltenham on June 12th-14th. Sec: Mrs Ann Davy, VMCC Ltd, Wetmore Road, Burton-on-Trent, Staffs DE14 1SN.

AII that anyone should need to know about A7s and the racing formulae run by the 750 MC is contained in its 1992 Yearbook, available to members for £1 post-free. Apply to Robin Knight, 9 Market Place, Harleston, Norfolk, IP20 9AG. A long season of economy racing is planned, culminating in the Birkett Six Hour Relay Race. Sec: Mike Peck, Courthouse, St Winifreds Road, Biggin Hill, Kent TN16 3HR.

The Bentley DC has a very full fixture list for 1992 and its Silverstone Race Meeting takes place on August 29th. The February issue of its Review contained, among other interesting articles, one by John Porter on the oft criticised 4-litre Bentley, showing how it was, in fact, considerably developed, and another about the fatal accident that occurred when a 4 1/2-litre chassis was being tested on the Barnet Bypass in 1930. Barbara Fell has retired after magnificent work as the Club’s secretary for 40 years. The new secretary is W J Port, at the same address.

The enthusiastic and active Morgan 3 wheeler Club has its opening run in Derbyshire on April 5th, a night trial in N Wales on March 28th/29th, and we can expect to see those fast Morgans racing again at the VSCC Silverstone Meeting on April 11th. The Secretary of this club which is so helpful to trikists is G Higgleton, 6 Rookery Lane, Stoke Bruerne, Towcester, Northants NN12 7SJ. WB
