The VSCC Measham Rally

The VSCC’s Measham Trial, one of its most important events, took place on the night of 22nd January, based at Leeming, thereby taking in the Yorkshire terrain. The route of some 180 miles included long sections of Army tracks, complete with potholes. Outright winners were A Davies/J Davies (1936 Riley Special), the best newcomers R & W Twelvetrees (1931 Riley 9 Spl). Class winners were: N Banning-Boddy/D Filsell (1927 A7 Chummy), J Baxter/Anabel Jones (1928 FrazerNash), A Pilkington/A Hill (1951 HRG). The best Novices on the event were R Fayter/J Foyner (1923 Straker Squire) and S Hyatt got a prize for best novice navigator, in J Diffey’s Vauxhall 30/98. The Team Prize went to the Garfitt/Sythe/Lister ‘Bee Emm Trouble U’ team.
