Aintree: A revival, please

Sir,

Congratulations on another excellent Track Test. I recall a proposed Aintree Historic event in 1997 to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Stirling Moss’ great Vanwall victory in the British GP. Sadly this was cancelled. The organisers said it would be reorganised in the future, but I have not heard of it since. I wonder what happened?

It is a great shame that Aintree could not hear the sound of those great cars being driven round again. For those of us who live in the North, it would be great to have a local event as well as the marvellous Coys and Goodwood events which many of us travel down to each year. Here’s hoping.

Whilst on the subject of the North, how about a future Track Test of Charterhall, where the great Jim Clark cut his teeth, and which I visit from time to time when in the Borders?

Thanks for an excellent magazine — all the Track Tests have been great.

I AM, YOURS ETC,
