Marshall hits gold

The British Automobile Racing Club has honoured the racing career of Gerry Marshall with the award of a coveted Gold Medal. The medals are presented by the club for ‘outstanding achievement in motor racing by a British subject’ and are only presented when merited.

Marshall, who recently scored his 600th race win, is the 44th Gold Medal recipient in 48 years. The first was presented to Stirling Moss and others have since been awarded to Damon Hill and Murray Walker.

“There is no doubt that Gerry merits a Gold Medal,” says BARC Chief Executive Dennis Carter, “not only for his remarkable win tally, but also for the enjoyment he has given his many followers.” Much of Marshall’s success has come at the wheel of racing Vauxhalls.
