My hero

By Sir Jack Brabham

“Fangio was my hero and I was lucky enough to have the pleasure of racing with him on several occasions. Two races in particular that stick in my mind are Rouen and Nitrburgring in 1957. He was the ultimate racing driver in every way and there has never been a comparison until today…

“Today’s hero would have to be Michael Schumacher, who is what motor racing should be all about: talent, intelligence, panache, good looks and the ability to talk sensibly with confidence in press interviews. He is unquestionably the driving force behind Ferrari. Had it not been for him, that team would be nowhere today.”
