UK date for Masters

Silverstone will host a round of the Grand Prix Masters series on August 13, meaning that Nigel Mansell will get the chance to return to the scene of his British Grand Prix wins in 1987 ’91 and ’92.

The series, for retired Formula One drivers over the age of 45, will christen the new Losail circuit in Qatar for international car racing on April 29 the track already hosts World Championship motorcycle racing. It then moves onto Monza on June 18, Silverstone in August, an unconfirmed venue on October 1 (in the Americas or the Far East) and finishes at Kyalami, scene of the successful pilot race last year, on November 12.

The date is a further boost to Britain’s international calendar, which contains dates of all major European-based series.
