Insurance companies' losses

I read with interest Mr. Heath-Thomas’ letter regarding insurance write-offs.

I recently purchased a 1941 Morgan 4/4 with one front wheel pushed back two feet. A bid of £22 10s. 0d. secured it; about 20 hours’ work with limited equipment plus £10 cash has made it roadworthy. I reckon I have a £150 sports car for £32 10s. 0d.
