Automobile Year

The 18th edition of the quality motoring annual “Automobile Year”, which has had so many imitators, and which is now edited by Douglas Armstrong, has appeared and is available from PSL, 9, Ely Place, London, EC1, for £4.75. It follows its traditional lavish format, with a pictorial review of important 1971 cars, a month-by-month look-back on the 1970 season, and which is the true purpose of this publication, a detailed and magnificently-illustrated report on the Grands Prix and leading sports-car races of last year, together with accounts of the Indianapolis and Can-Am races.

In addition, Dennis May deals with Riley cars in another superbly-illustrated article, there is an analysis of the Drivers’ World Championship since 1950 by Jacques Ickx and a comparison of four highly exciting cars, the Ferrari and Fiat Dino models against the Porsches, 911 and 914/6. The annual runs to 276 pages and is a handsome addition to the best bookcases.
