By a happy coincidence, just when I was looking around for some motor racing posters for my study, a catalogue arrived from Historic Motor Racing Posters of Ince, Chester. That’s all they do some 200 prints of posters from the 1980s right back to the 1890s. We’ve only seen small-scale proofs as reproduced here, but the colours and definition look fine, They offer two sizes, 11 x 16 in at £16 or 20 x 30 in at £24, unframed. Their colour catalogue shows 72 of the designs, majoring on the most graphically striking period between the wars. Tel: 051 356 4611.

Bravely ignoring his degree in industrial design after discovering night rallies in a Renault 8, GC joined Motor Sport by accident, in the Teesdale days around 1982 when Jenks and WB were office regulars and Mr Tee ruled with a rod of cardboard. He took part in some of the early historic rallies, winning one of the Pirelli Marathons, and regularly runs his Mk2 Jaguar in road events.
