The first seeds of many a great enterprise have been planted by the meeting of two young people with similar ambitions and complementary talents: like the day in May 1904…
LADY KILLERS
SIR,
At Goodwood, after a lifetime of searching, I finally discovered Utopia. The Revival Meeting was without doubt the stuff that dreams are made of, and all credit to Lord March and his loyal army of enthusiasts who created this superb time capsule.
What impressed me most was the number of spectators who answered the call to dress up for the occasion. The ladies especially looked magnificent in their Fifties fashions. What a refreshing change to see real women wearing real clothes again far removed from the ‘refugees’ of today.
It’s a long time since I saw so many skirts, hats, gloves and high heels, and for pure nostalgia at its glamorous best those seamed stockings were sheer perfection! Thanks girls, for the return of real sex appeal I very nearly missed the racing!
As someone who preferred the quality of life 45 years ago, I shall hibernate till we ‘meet again’ next year. JAM, YOURS, ETC, BRIAN E THOMPSON, DORSET
