Historic boost

Fans of historic racing stand to benefit from Silverstone’s split with Coys of Kensington. While Silverstone presses on with its Historic Festival, Coys will initiate a new event at Rockingham in Corby, Northamptonshire, on 27 May.

Peter Maurice of Silverstone said: “The International Historic Festival is established worldwide as the greatest Festival of Historic Racing. The date has moved to the August Bank Holiday weekend so people can come to all three days without taking time off work.”

Coys’ ambitious plans for Rockingham are slipping into place, and will be confirmed this month. Coys’ Chairman Jeffrey Pattinson said: “We are delighted to establish a relationship with this magnificent venue, and while I won’t reveal precise plans at this stage, I can confirm that we intend to bring Brooklands-type cars there, and front-engined Indycar roadsters.” More details in next month’s issue.
