Nearly 40 years on from its last win at Oulton Park, Mike Hibberd’s FJ Lotus 27 scored another win at the Cheshire circuit this season. Peter Arundell raced the car to victory in 1963 as a works car. He went on to win the British Formula Junior title that season.
Guy Minshaw, younger son of Demon Tweeks boss and prolific historic racer Alan, has switched to historic racing with a Formula Ford Merlyn in the HSCC’s Historic FF Championship. His brother Jon is now well established in historic circles with his Jaguar E-type.
Stephen Minoprio has won the FIA Historic Grand Touring title this season in his Marcos GT. Minoprio returned to racing a couple of seasons ago and has campaigned the Volvo-powered Marcos to great effect across Europe.
Last month we mentioned that Robin Lodge’s Lancia D50 had been converted to run on methanol, but incorrectly ascribed the work to Tony Merrick. In fact it was Jim Stokes Engineering who carried out the conversion on this wonderful recreation.
