Mirages and Procars
Le Mans finisher brings top price at Bonham’s Goodwood sale

An unusual crop this month. Ferraris remain anything other than bargains, but any car with a Le Mans pedigree is going for big money. Fancy a BMW M1 for Le Mans Classic in a few years?

1 Lincoln Zephyr
Among the many stars of RM’s sale of Jerry Capizzi’s collection of significant Fords is an array or fabulous V12 Lincolns, similar to the car pictured.

2 Ferrari 250GT SWB
Star of the Sportscar Auction Company’s Geneva sale at Palexpo in early October will be with this ex-Daniel Sieberimann 250GT, seen here in the ’63 Auvergne 3 Hours at Clermont-Ferrand. It finished 23rd overall.

3 BMW M1 Procar
The first ever Procar racer is to be offered at the Sportscar Auction Company sale in October. The M1 was sold new to Walter Wolf and later used by AC Schnitzer.

4 AC Cobra 427
Bidding was fierce for this ’66 AC Cobra MkIII 427 at Coys’ The Excellence of Porsche sale. Imported in 1973, it had done just 23,914 miles from new.

5 Proteus D-type
This impeccably made Jaguar D-type replica comes up at the SAC Geneva auction in October.

6 Gulf-Mirage M8
Liberated from a museum, this Cosworth-powered Mirage, which Vern Schuppan and J-P Jassaud placed third at Le Mans in 1975, was top seller at Bonhams’ Goodwood Revival sale.
