Driving directions

Sir,

Sorry to be pedantic with Chris Rouse (Letters, October issue), but I would suggest that he is a lover of the top-left corner of Great Britain, not of the UK, which would arguably be in Northern Ireland. I don’t think it matters what you drive there as long as it handles well enough: speed and power aren’t everything, and I would even suggest that, lovely as the prospect might be, not even a classic is required. I had a week in that area and on Skye in my 2010 Mazda MX-5 last autumn, and had a whale of a time driving around on cold crisp days with the roof down. Heaven! So don’t wait for a lottery win: just get yourself there in whatever you’re driving now!
