Ex-Mikkola Escort returns

The Ford Escort Mk1 Hannu Mikkola used to win the 1000 Lakes rally in 1970 has made its competition return in the hands of its new owner. Steve Ward gave FEV 5H, the 1600cc twin-cam works car in which Roger Clark also took victory on the 1970 Circuit of Ireland, a run on the recent Woodpecker Stages.

“When I bought the car I vowed to rally it,” said Ward. “We’re going to take our time, but we plan to do more events in the future. It will be kept completely original.”
