Details matter.

The sparse beauty of simple, driver-focused design. The dashboard of the monstrous Porsche 917/30, which we drove for our cover story this month,  featured just three dials to feed information to its pilot – rev counter, oil temperature and pressure gauge. We say just three, because how any racer – even one such as Mark Donohue – found any time to glance at the two boost gauges on the far left is frankly beyond us…
