* * * PRAISE FOR AN ALFA
Sir,
I have read with great interest, in your issue of August, 1951, the article ” Busman’s Holiday ” in which the writer refers to the ‘ 2.8 ” Alfa-Romeo. I happened to be the original owner of this car, which remains, amongst all the ears that I have had, the One that gave the the greatest pleasure and service. I have had many sports cars before this Alfa-Romeo and since, and even the “
4.1″ Ferrari which I now possess, although a much faster car, does not give me the same satisfaction.
It will give me great pleasure to come into contact with the present owner of this car, as I feel that it would be to our mutual interest if we could exchange experiences. Before the 1985 Le Mans race, I had already done more than 10,000 miles on the road with this Alfa, and after the race, without the slightest repair or tuning up, I covered about 16,000 miles more
By the way, the car never belonged to Chinetti, as I bought it in 1984 directly from Alfa-Romeo and only sold it, at a date which I do not exaetly remember, with the help of Chinetti, with whom I have always been on very good terms for the last 20 years. I am, Yours, etc.,
PIERRE LOUIS-DREYFUS.
