Supersports double thrills Zandvoort crowds

Can-Am fever gripped 71,000 spectators at Zandvoort on August 2/3, as Germany’s Jost Kalisch bagged an International Supersports Cup double at the Marlboro Masters Formula 3 event in his mighty BRM P154.

Chris Chiles was second on aggregate in his psychedelic March 717, although he was beaten into third place in the deciding leg by Richard Eyre (McLaren M8F). American visitors Bud, Craig and Kirt Bennett had a troubled weekend on their Dutch debut, but were back on song for the Nurburgring the following weekend.

Paul Ingram (Chevron B19) took 2-litre honours after a firstday tussle with Ian Barrowman’s Toj-BMW, although local veteran Jan van Straaten had a maiden win with his beautiful long-tailed Lola T292 when Barrowman retired on the Sunday.
