RAM driver Bob Berridge completed a hat-trick of FIA Cup Thoroughbred Grand Prix Car wins at the Nurburgring Oldtimer Grand Prix meeting, but was expected to drive an ex-Keke Rosberg Williams FWO8B at Brno last weekend.
The sole-surviving ex-works Jaguar MkII racer is being restored for owner Jonathan Suckling to compete in FIA Historic Touring Car events in 1998. Registered 1628 VC, the factory development machine won European Championship rounds at the Nurburgring, Zolder and Zandvoort, and will return in original specification, equipped with D-type camshafts and 6 1/2in wire wheels.
The 1957 Formula 2 CooperClimax which the late George Wicken raced in period has been acquired in the USA (in kit form) by fellow Kentishman David Brown, who is restoring the car and plans to campaign it in Historic events next season.
