The Silverstone Classic marked the return to racing of the Shadow DN1 that Graham Hill used during the 1973 season. The car had stood un-raced for 35 years until Daryl Taylor rebuilt it and took it back to the grid.
“We bought it towards the end of last year in America and it’s been quite a project,” said Somerset-based Taylor. It had been stored in the States and, apart from a few demonstration runs, hadn’t been used since Hill raced it in 1973.
“I’m the first person other than Graham Hill to race the car. It is quite an honour,” said Taylor.
