Duncan for Safari Classic

Former Safari Rally winner and multiple Kenyan National champion Ian Duncan has entered this year’s East African Safari Classic Rally in a 1967 Ford Mustang.

Duncan, who won the Safari in a Toyota in 1994 when it was a round of the World Rally Championship, will join 45 other crews for the event which will cover a marathon 2500 miles through Kenya and Tanzania from November 22-December 1.

Duncan drove the 5-litre Mustang on the ’07 event but retired from third place with gearbox failure. “I’m really looking forward to driving the Mustang which will be much better prepared as we’ve learnt a lot about the car. It should give me all the things I love in rallying in one event,” said the four-time Kenyan rally champion.

Also confirmed for the Safari is British driver Steve Perez in a Datsun 260Z, returning to the event on which he broke his neck in 2007.
