Rallies, Trials and Gymkhanas

by David Hebb and Arthur Peck. 159 pp, 111/4 in by 81/2 in. (Channel Press, Great Neck, New York. $5)

This ambitious book, as its title explains, covers almost every aspect of motor sport, naturally from the American angle. It is crammed with useful hints and hunches for US competitors in such events and from them, drivers and navigators in this country should be able to pick up much of value, The Concours d’ Elegance, preparation for and participation in, is not overlooked and there is a comprehensive chapter on how to stage a rally. Instead of photographs, excellent and live pen-and-ink sketches are used, together with many diagrams and plans. These, and the high quality reproduction, should make this a book much sought after in America, each copy contains a loose distance/mph calculator card.—WB.
