The 1988 Coventry Motor Panels Run on September 11 will include a section for historic cars and motorcycles made in the Midlands. The start is from Baginton Airport at 10am, and the route goes via Kenilworth, Balsall Common, Solihull, Hockley Heath, Henley-in-Arden, Stratford on Avon (with lunch-break at Charlecote Park) and Leamington Spa, to the finish at Broadgate, Coventry. Entry is free to all spectators at the Lancia Motor Club’s Goodwood open day on September 17, when the 25th birthday of the Fulvia will be celebrated. A Sussex and Hampshire touring rally will also be held that weekend, and details can be obtained from Brian Long, 1 Brushers Lane, Forest Road, Thomey Hill, Bransgore, Hampshire.

Porsche Owners Club provides the new Brands Hatch International Hotel with its first major group function when it hosts its 25th anniversary celebrations for the 911 there on September 23-25. The races and parades will be attended by a hundred Porsches, a claimed total of £2.1/2-million worth of machinery.

Forthcoming rounds of the Gordon Russell Inter-Marque Championship, in which ACs do battle with Aston Martins, Ferraris, Jaguars and Porsches, take place at Donington (September 3-4), Oulton Park (September 18), Brands Hatch (September 24-25) and Silverstone (October 1-2).

Aston Martin Owners Club’s smartly presented summer edition of AM Magazine includes reports on the Mille Miglia retrospective, Coppa d’Italia, RAC Classic Run and May’s Brands Hatch and Wiscombe Park Historic events, as well as the story of the opening of its new headquarters near Ely. It is also packed with photographs, and a more professional publication you could not hope to receive from a one-make club.
