Vintage fun at Cadwell

AT the interesting Lincolnshire circuit, the VSCC held its annual race on June 8. The 10-lap Shuttleworth and Nuffield Trophies event went to Barrie Williams’ A-type Connaught, at 70.86mph, from Hack’s F2 Cooper-Bristol and Julian Bronson in ERA AJM1. Bronson’s Blue Streak Riley won the Melville and Geohagan race, at 65.32mph, from Carmen’s Alvis and Simon Diffey’s Riley Elf, and the Spero race went to David Fletcher-Jones’ Lagonda Rapier, at 62.29mph. The John Holland race was won by Geraint Owen’s DH Riley, at 64.36mph, from James Diffey’s GN and Scaldwell’s AC.

Gilbert’s Lister-Jaguar led home the race for 1950s cars, at 67.68mph. Roberts took the Frazer Nash race, at 63.69mph, and the supporting short races went to Davidmann’s Riley (two wins), Carmen’s Alvis and Dean’s T51 Bugatti. Bronson in the ERA got the Nuffield Trophy. Fastest lap of the day was 72.41mph, by White’s Cooper-Bristol.
