Manx Historic Rally
Richard Gower and Mark Crisp won the sixth round of the Armajaro MSA British Historic Rally Championship. After 15 flat-out stages on the Isle of Man, their Ford Escort RS1600 emerged from a mighty battle against the similar car of Adrian Trickett/John Pickavance with a 20sec advantage.
“I’m relieved to be here after the lack of gears last night,” said Gower. He’d completed the opening leg on Thursday evening with only three speeds.
Trickett was not too disappointed to be edged into second on his first experience of the island: “It’s been one of the most exciting rallies I’ve ever done.”
As well as collecting the overall BHRC victory, Gower/Crisp also claimed the post-historic category, while top of the historic category were Adrian Kermode/John Coleman, who fended off the similar Porsche 911 of Dessie Nutt/Geraldine McBride.
