Moss heads Gold Cup line-up
Stirling Moss demonstrating a Maserati 250F will be one of the star attractions at Oulton Park as the 50th anniversary of the first Gold Cup is commemorated. Moss won the 1954 race and took victory in the biggest event held at the Cheshire venue a further five times.
Joining Moss to headline the non-racing elements of the August 29-30 event will be cars from the Jaguar Museum, the prototype Jaguar E-type and Rob Anderson, winner of the 500cc Formula Three race during the 1954 Gold Cup meeting.
Numerous marque displays will pack the infield, while two full days of racing will be run on the international circuit Frank. Sytner’s Lola T70 will be the favourite in the European Sports-Prototype races, which will take a grid-full of Group 4 cars back to the track for the first time since the 1960s. A strong Chevron contingent, including B8s and B16s, will mark the circuit’s proximity to the marque’s former factory in Bolton.
Grids of pre-1961 and pre-66 GP cars will recall the non-championship F1 races which Oulton hosted, while a Euro F2 race should bring together two groups of period machinery.
A full programme of HSCC championships and the BRDC Historic Sports Car Championship make up the supporting programme.

6 hours tops Spa festival
The Six Hours of Spa will be the headline event at one of the biggest historic race meetings in Europe. As many as 600 cars are expected at the 12th Six Hours event over the weekend of September 17-19.
The endurance race for pre-1965 GT, touring and sports-prototypes features a capacity grid of around 80 for a race that starts at 6pm and runs into the darkness to finish at midnight. The 2003 race became a Ford GT40 contest as Christian Glasel/Aaron Hsu beat Allen Lloyd/Gerry Wainwright.
A total of 15 races will include a two-hour Gentlemen Drivers race and a one-hour race for Group 4 and Gentlemen Drivers sports-racing cars. Saturday’s BRDC Historic Sports Car round will decide the title’s destiny.

VSCC’S Frazer Nash ‘Chain Gang’ depart for des Remparts
The annual Circuit des Remparts on the streets of the French town of Angoulême will again feature a big contingent of Frazer Nashes over the weekend of September 18-19.
The walled city in south-west France will host nine races. More than 20 Bugattis are promised by the event organisers, while the Chain Gang Section of the VSCC will field a full grid of ‘Nashes for the fourth time.
British racer Jeff Stow (Bugatti T35B) will be aiming to repeat his 2003 Bugatti race win, while other highlights will include an event for pre-1965 GT/GTS/GTP cars.
Aside from Sunday’s nine races, other events during the weekend include a concours d’elegance and a touring rally for up to 150 pre-1970 cars, using the glorious French countryside around the town.
