News in brief, September 2006

Person to person

Motor Sport staff were able to meet many of our readers at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where our stand was busy all weekend. If you are attending Goodwood Revival, we’ll have a stand there too; come and introduce yourself.

Take this rally to Cuba

A category for pre-1978 classics has been added to the 28-day Panama-San Francisco Rally, which will run in February 2007. Among the first classic entries is the Citroën SM of Swiss crew Gerry and Helen Leumann.

The Trans World Events rally will be the first rally ever to visit Cuba, and crews will spend two nights in Havana as they travel north. The route takes in eight countries.

Just like the real thing

If you were swayed by Max Mosley’s view that we should be racing replicas, then talk to the Old Racing Car Company at the Goodwood Revival. They are importing Argentinian company Pur Sang’s extremely accurate ‘tool room copies’ of Bugattis. At £110,000 for a T35 and £25k more for a T51, it’s a cheap way in to the fabled marque; just don’t tell the VSCC.
