Silver anniversary for See Red at Donington

A celebration of the 1937 British Grand Prix at Donington Park will be the headline feature of the VSCC’s SeeRed meeting at the Leicestershire circuit on September 15 and 16.

Billed as a ‘Silver Edition’ of SeeRed, the meeting will run two weeks before the 70th anniversary of the first British appearance of the mighty Silver Arrows teams from Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz. A highlight of the event should be a demonstration by a Mercedes W125 (pictured below on Donington’s Melbourne loop in 1937) from the factory.

“We had a W125 at Donington in 1999, but this is quite a coup for us to have one here to mark the 70th anniversary of the 1937 race,” said Mike Stripe of the Vintage Sports-Car Club. Other highlights include races for Group C/GTP cars, the Vintage and Historic Seaman Trophy races and the Williams Trophy for pre-1934 two-seater grand prix cars.
