Biela's Audi days are over

Frank Biela’s Audi career appears to be at an end after 18 years. The multiple Le Mans 24 Hours winner and touring car champion is not scheduled to race again for Audi this year, the German manufacturer has announced. It revealed in June that it was never scheduled for Biela to continue in the ALMS into the second half of this season.

Biela has conceded that his Audi racing career finished at Le Mans in June. He said there was “no chance” of his contract being renewed for 2009, even for a one-off at the 24 Hours.

Audi helped turn Biela into one of the great sports car and touring car all-rounders. He won Le Mans five times with the marque and before that led it to success in the German (DTM), French and British touring car championships.
