Peugeot drops Audi R15 protest

Peugeot has dropped its eligibility protest against the Audi R15. The French manufacturer protested the R15 TDI on the morning of free practice at the Le Mans 24 Hours on two key areas of its aerodynamic package. That protest was thrown out by the stewards of the meeting, at which point Peugeot appealed to the FFSA, the French sporting federation.

The appeal was dropped in the wake of a meeting of manufacturers and constructors called by the Le Mans organiser, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, to discuss the future direction of the rules. Peugeot said its move followed “guarantees about the clarification and application of the rules for next year”.
