Although Gordon has been compiling WB’s life story for 10 years, the news of Bill’s death

was still a shock. Gordon worked with Bill for 30 years, which made composing an obituary all the harder. So much to say, so much to omit. Swapping test cars halfway to Wales, collecting Bill’s films from Prescott, the endless correcting phone calls and those great stories in the BRDC about 1930s heroes. A privilege.
