Hannu Mikkola and Arne Hertz kick up the dust on their way to second in the Rally of Portugal.
Mikkola would help Ford finish runner-up in the points that year, and placed himself third in what was just the World Rally Championship’s second year of awarding the FIA Cup for Drivers. Björn Waldegård would claim the first official WRC drivers’ world crown in 1979 with Ford and the Escort RS 1800, with Mikkola second.
