Three Le Mans-winning Ford GT40s reunite at Goodwood after almost six decades
Sixty years after Ford’s famous Le Mans triumph, the three GT40s that filled the podium in 1966 were reunited at Goodwood, reviving one of endurance racing’s most debated finishes before returning for the Revival

Just over 60 years ago, a trio of Ford GT40s finished 1-2-3 in the Le Mans 24 Hours, and those same three cars were reunited on the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on a scorching summer day – running together for the first time since 1969. Motor Sport columnist Karun Chandhok had the honour of driving two of these legendary cars at Goodwood – which you can read about in this month’s F1 Insider. The photo finish of 1966 is one of motor racing’s most infamous incidents, the PR-heavy tie of the leading pair orchestrated by Ford designed to ‘defeat’ Ferrari.
