Formula 1 will get its first story mode as part of its official video game with the release of F1 2021. The announcement trailer teased the new ‘Braking Point’ story mode that will pit you against drivers in F2 and F1 and challenge you to rise to the top of the sport.

Along with the new story mode, Codemasters has confirmed that career mode will be playable via co-op, allowing you to team up with friends and team-mates or head-to-head as title rivals.

Live seasons have been confirmed allowing players to jump into the current Formula 1 season at exactly the same point as the real-life standings are at that moment. Players will be able to take over at any point during the 2021 season and play out the ending, allowing the possibility for real-world scenarios heading into the final races of the season.

My Team, two-player split-screen, season length options and F2 return from previous titles while improvements to assist options, driver stats and multiplayer have been confirmed too.

While the current season features Imola, Portimao and Jeddah, players will have to wait to get their chance to race around the new venues but all three circuits will be added free post-launch.

Codemasters has also confirmed that the game will launch on the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 current-gen consoles as well as the former PS4/Xbox One generation alongside its usual PC release.

PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions will have faster load times and improved visual effects.

The game is set to launch on July 16 just before the British Grand Prix weekend. Pre-orders are available now and will give players exclusive ‘Braking Point’ content including in-game items as well as 5000 PitCoins, the virtual in-game currency.
