Andrew Marriott
Away from the track action at the 83rd Goodwood Members’ Meeting, there was plenty to catch the eye as Andrew Marriott wandered the paddock, finding the drivers, the cars and some unexpected stars of the weekend.
Jan Magnussen
Former Stewart GP Formula 1 driver and Corvette Le Mans Champion Jan Magnuson contemplates the Outlaw Legends team’s latest acquisition, the Huffaker Genie Mk10. Jan, surprisingly, was a Goodwood first timer. The gearbox broke in practice for the Bruce McLaren Trophy so he was denied a start.
Vijay Mallya
Former Force India boss Vijay Mallya finds a gear in his 1914 Delage. He finished 18th in the S.F. Edge Trophy for pre-1918 cars.
McLaren M23
Hunt clinched the 1976 Formula 1 world championship in this very car, with a second-place finish at Fuji. It was arguably the star attraction as Goodwood celebrated the 50th anniversary of the title victory.
James Hunt lookalike
In the past Goodwood has hired lookalike drivers but this guy was completely unofficial. He got himself interviewed by a US film crew, making a Hesketh documentary.
Marino and Dario Franchitti
The Franchitti brothers are always a big part of the Members’ and Revival meetings. Dario proved he is still a winner at the weekend. The Indy 500 victor won the first-ever Jaguar E-type one-make Protheroe Cup with fellow Scot Gregor Fiskin.
Tyrrell P34
The Tyrrell six-wheeler that never raced. Calum Lockie demonstrated this car which was a “spares package”. It has recently passed from the Jody Scheckter collection. Calum is hoping to give this car its race debut.
