Ferrari Hydroplane model

In 1953, Castoldi, a wealthy boat privateer, commissioned the beginning of an 800kg class hydroplane. Wanting to establish a world water speed record he turned to Ferrari for the engine who supplied the same engine that gave Ferrari his first Grand Prix victory with the Ferrari 375 F1 at Silverstone Circuit in 1951. With this engine Castoldi hit a 150.19mph top speed in October 1953 on Lake Iseo – still the world speed record for an 800 kg boat. 

This fabulous model is made entirely in wood and features amazing detail throughout. Complete with its own wooden plinth. The model comes completely assembled.
