F1 movie outguns Drive to Survive in $144m opening weekend
F1: The Movie drew a bigger audience in its opening weekend than the latest Drive to Survive did in its first ten days of release
Motor Sport has teamed up with Footman James and Scalextric to bring you the inaugural Motor Sport Cinema Club evening, giving readers the chance to watch a special screening of Grand Prix, the original F1 film. But that’s not all! The evening also includes an exclusive Q&A session with VIP guest David Brabham, whose father Jack appeared in the film back in 1966. The event is hosted by racer and commentator Alex Brundle.
Join us on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, for an exclusive cinema screening of the ultimate Formula 1 racing film: Grand Prix.
From the thunder of V12 engines to the incredible shots of Monaco’s harbour-front, and the real racing drivers behind the wheel, Grand Prix remains a visceral, high-octane tribute to a golden era of racing — a time when bravery was abundant and safety margins were vanishingly thin.
Now, almost 60 years on, we’re bringing it back to the big screen in London in one special night for fans of motor sport and movie magic alike.
Taking place at the luxurious Curzon Mayfair, guests will hear from David Brabham the Formula 1 driver, Le Mans winner, and son of triple world champion Sir Jack, who raced during the period depicted in Grand Prix.
After a Q&A session hosted by Alex Brundle, where you can pose questions directly to Brabham, the lights will dim for the screening.
Tickets are available for the full evening or the screening alone.
Racing driver and broadcaster Alex Brundle will host the evening, bringing expert insight and behind-the-scenes context to Grand Prix (1966). Experience this classic film with one of motor sport’s most respected voices.
Join Le Mans winner David Brabham as he shares stories from his racing career and legendary family legacy in this exclusive reader Q&A.
Situated in the heart of London’s exclusive Mayfair, The Curzon Mayfair cinema blends timeless elegance with modern technology, making it the perfect venue for our cinema screening evening.
With its art deco design and advanced screening facilities, it offers an intimate and immersive setting to experience classic motor sport on the big screen.
