Formula 1 heads to Europe for the first time in 2026: the Monaco Grand Prix will bring the first early afternoon start time of the season for European viewers.
Live action will once again be available to watch or stream on Sky, in Britain. Channel 4 will carry highlights as usual.
While the Grand Prix starts at 2pm BST on Sunday, you also won’t want to miss one of the most exciting qualifying sessions of the year. At 3pm on Saturday, the world’s best drivers will thread their cars between barriers as fast as they dare, along the ribbon of Monte Carlo streets.
As usual, on a track where overtaking is nearly impossible, grid position may well be everything.
Kimi Antonelli comes into the sixth round of the season as the man to beat. The teenage Mercedes driver has been in incredible form, winning four consecutive races in China, Japan, Miami and Canada to lead the drivers’ standings – and will be looking to extend that run on the streets where F1 history is made every year.
George Russell heads to the principality in need of a response. The Briton retired in Canada, and the increasing gap to his team-mate at the top of the standings is a concern, and Monaco – a circuit that rewards precision and qualifying pace above almost all else – offers both the opportunity and the pressure to deliver.
Ferrari is seen as the pre-event favourite thanks to the characteristics of its car and power unit, and home hero Charles Leclerc will be looking for his second win in Monaco to celebrate his recent contract extension.
McLaren will also be looking to bounce back after a difficult weekend in Canada, and last year’s winner Lando Norris is also a contender for victory.
