Alfa Romeo has become the latest team to reveal its 2021 Formula 1 car, showing off its new C41 in Warsaw, Poland ahead of the new season.

One of the only unchanged driver line-ups on the grid from last season, Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi were both on hand to reveal the new car that features subtle tweaks from its predecessor.

The new C41 has a redesigned front nose cone, moving to a narrower Mercedes-like design featuring a more “aggressive” evolution according to technical chief, Jan Monchaux. Two development tokens were spent on the front end of the car during the winter, but further extensive development is not expected with the team already focusing on 2022.

2020 was a disappointing season for Alfa Romeo, not helped by Ferrari’s private power unit settlement with the FIA resulting in a sub-par engine for the season.

Hamstrung by the power deficit to close rivals, Räikkönen and Giovinazzi combined for just eight points throughout the whole of last season, with three ninth-place finishes the high water mark. The team ended the season in eighth place in the constructors’ standings.

While rumours suggested that Giovinazzi was going to be replaced by F2 champion Mick Schumacher, the Italian was confirmed to be staying on with the team heading into the final third of last season. Räikkönen will embark on his 19th F1 campaign.
